Juan Carlos Guerra (Spain)

Juan Carlos Guerra is a Spanish screenwriter and director who began his training at the International School of Film and Television (EICTV) in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, and later received a grant from the SGAE Foundation to expand his international studies. In 2019 he was a participant in the intensive workshop Da Criação a Guião with Doc Comparato, as part of the program A Quatro Mãos in Lisbon, and was selected for the SGAE Foundation’s Thriller and Drama Script Development Workshop in Madrid with his project La pesca. His short films and documentaries have screened at international film festivals, where he has won several awards, such as the MadeInShort Andalucía Award, the RTVA Award for Andalusian Audiovisual Creation, and the Special Mention of the Audience at the Uno Sguardo Raro Festival in Rome. In 2019 he won the Grand Jury Award at the Barcelona International Film Festival with his project No hay suelo firme bajo tus pies, and in 2020 he was the winner of projects to be developed at the Oaxaca FilmFest in Mexico and was selected at the Labguion workshop in Colombia with his project Tráeme flores cuando aún no esté muerto.
