Federico Casal (Uruguay)

In addition to working as a filmmaker, Federico Casal studied literary translation and piano. In 2016 he joined the editorial team of Revista Film magazine. That same year his film Largo verso de la noche screened at the Detour Festival of New Cinema in Uruguay. His short film Wanderer was a finalist in the international short film competition of Ryuichi Sakamoto, composer of soundtracks such as The Revenant, and was screened in 2019 at the Nippon Connection festival, one of the most important Japanese film festivals in the world. His English-language feature film scripts Unwelcome and So Far Away, So Near have received awards and been finalists in various competitions and festivals. In December 2020, Federico attended the Nostos Screenwriting Retreat with a contemporary adaptation of Bartleby: the Scrivener. Federico has attended Sundance Co//ab courses on directing actors and writing for television. He is currently developing his feature debut with Anfibia Cine (Uruguay).
