Born in Zapopan, Mexico, Teo Belton is a French-Mexican film director and screenwriter living in Peru since 2008. He has directed several fiction and documentary short films awarded at national and international festivals and by the Directorate of Audiovisual, Phonography and New Media of the Peruvian Ministry of Culture (DAFO). Teo won the Sony Short Fest in 2016, which allowed him to present his work with Sony at the NAB Show in Las Vegas. His documentaries, made with support from the National Geographic Society, The Wellcome Trust Fund and the Pulitzer Center’s Rainforest Journalism Fund (RJF), have screened at numerous festivals, including Photoville in New York (2021) and Les Rencontres d’Arles in France (2023). His interests lie in his encounters with indigenous peoples and, in his work, he explores dreamlike and surreal stories inspired by magic realism. Teo is currently working on the development of his first feature film, Allq’u, which has won DAFO’s National Competition for the Development of Feature Film Projects.

Allq’u — Originally from Chumbivilcas, Cusco region, César is a fervent fighter of Takanakuy, an Andean ritual battle in which men and women fight each other for justice and community balance. Forced to migrate to the city of Lima, he is confronted with a chaotic reality where the search for resources pushes him to clandestine fights, leading him to find his destiny in a world of violence.
