Álvaro Manzano (Bolivia)

Álvaro Manzano is a Bolivian filmmaker. In 2013 he founded Color Monster in La Paz, Bolivia, a company dedicated to the production and post-production of films with international projection. In 2017 he launched, together with Vinko Tomicic, the training project La Incubadora Fílmica, which has expanded throughout Latin America. In 2024 he joined the Color Haus Chile team to work on the post-production of film and television projects. His recently produced projects include El ladrón de perros, by director Vinko Tomicic, to be released in 2024 (developed at the Cannes Cinéfondation Residency, Venezia Biennale College Cinema, Locarno Academy and EAVE Puentes). He also produced Chaco, by Diego Mondaca (which premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival and won the award for Best Film at the Gijón Festival and a Special Jury Mention at the Valdivia Festival), and the award-winning documentary El corral y el viento, by Miguel Hilari (winner at the Santiago International Documentary Festival and part of the official selection at Cinéma du Réel and the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival). He has also worked as a production director and assistant director on films such as Werner Herzog’s Salt and Fire, Alejandro Loayza’s Utama (winner of the Grand Jury Prize (World Cinema Dramatic) at the Sundance Film Festival), and Juan Carlos Valdivia’s Zona Sur (winner of the awards for Best Director and Best Script (World Cinema Dramatic) at the Sundance Festival). Álvaro is currently developing Noche de verano, Christian Nawrath’s debut feature, and 99 secretos, a script he wrote and will direct himself.
99 secretos — El Alto, Bolivia. A revolution is brewing on the city streets, but inside a luxurious cholet, the party continues. It is Ana’s fifteenth birthday, and her father has paid for an ostentatious celebration. Jonathan sneaks into the party and, together with the quinceañera, causes an accident in the car of one of the guests. Together, they decide to hide the vehicle and keep the secret.
