Juan Pablo Félix is a screenwriter, producer and film director. He began his career as a producer, participating in more than 50 international productions. In 2021, he released his first fiction film, Karnawal, selected at film festivals around the world. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and has received multiple awards, including the Biznaga de Oro Award for Best Ibero-American Film at the Málaga Film Festival. Karnawal also won two Platinum Awards, for Best First Feature Fiction Film and Best Supporting Actor, as well as the Best Director Award at the Guadalajara International Film Festival. It also won eight Sur Awards from the Argentinian Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, including Best Fiction Film and Best Director. As a producer, Juan Pablo is a founding partner of the production company Amore Cine in Spain, together with Edson Sidonie, Paz Lázaro and Florencia Visconti, and of the production company Bikini Films in Argentina, together with Edson Sidonie and Florencia Visconti. In both companies he develops series and films with a strong focus on international co-productions.
Ofelia — In 2009, as Argentina plunges into a social and economic crisis, Ofelia, a bourgeois woman from Buenos Aires trapped in the monotony of her privileged life, faces an existential crisis. Recently retired, her world seems meaningless until an unexpected reunion with Marina, a former student 20 years younger and a leftist activist, awakens her to the possibility of a personal revolution. Marina, her only secret love, becomes an obsession that Ofelia perceives as her last chance to free herself and be happy. But this passionate attempt crashes against the cruel reality of her own life and social class.
