Carlos Morales is a Mexican director and screenwriter interested in telling stories about migration and queer experiences, whose works have participated in several festivals, including Sundance, Berlinale and Hot Docs. In 2019, his documentary Sinfonía de un mar triste won the Ariel Award for Best Documentary Short Film, granted by the Mexican Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and in 2021 his documentary short film La felicidad en que vivo was also nominated in the same category. Carlos is currently post-producing his first feature documentary, Quiero matar a mi abuelo, which was supported by the Documentary Feature Film Production Fund of the Mexican Film Development Program (FOCINE) and received a development award from The Whickers, granted at Sheffield DocFest in 2023. In 2024 he premiered, as a screenwriter, the documentary Después de las armas at the Guadalajara International Film Festival, DocsMX and the Guanajuato International Film Festival. Carlos studied screenwriting at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) in Mexico City.
