Renee Seijas Zamboni (Guatemala)

Renee Seijas Zamboni is a Guatemalan filmmaker who graduated from the Vancouver Film School with a specialization in Art and Post-Production and has worked on independent projects in Canada and Chile. In 2015, she received the Student Merit Award of Excellence in Picture Editing granted by the Canadian Cinema Editors (CCE) for the editing of the short film Reconnect. In Guatemala, she made her directorial debut with the documentary short film Platillo de despedida (2022), which screened at film festivals in Australia, Argentina, London and Vancouver, and premiered at the Muestra de Cine Hecho por Mujeres film festival in Guatemala City. Her first fiction short film, Despertar de la Coyota (2025), is soon to be released. Renee has been part of training programs such as the Industry Circle of the Guatemala Audiovisual and Film Association (AGACine) in 2022 and the FSPI Cine workshop in Costa Rica in 2023. She is currently developing her debut feature, Mamita chula.

Renee was a participant in Cine Qua Non Lab’s 2024 Storylines Lab with Mamita chula.
