Santos Arrué is a Guatemalan Honduran director and writer from Los Angeles. After earning her B.F.A. in Film/Video from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), she was a top 25 finalist for the Sundance Ignite Fellowship. Santos is a recent alum of the American Film Institute (AFI), where she earned her M.F.A. in Directing. A finalist for the writer/director track for Sundance Collab’s Cultural Impact Residency Honoring Michael Latt, her work focuses on exploring the multiplicity of identity, foreignness, displacement and community.
How to Stop the Sky from Wanting — After 30 years in the United States, 57-year-old Geronimo is deported to his country of origin: Guatemala. Separated from his family and banned from re-entry, a migrant theater group helps Geronimo find his way home.
