Sofia Spotti (Italy/Mexico)

Sofia Spotti is an Italian-Mexican writer-director based in the United Kingdom. She graduated with an M.A. in Directing Fiction from the National Film and Television School (NFTS). Her work blends grounded storytelling with elements of magical realism, exploring identity, memory, grief, and womanhood. Her short films have screened at BAFTA- and Oscar-qualifying festivals. Her graduation film, Watch Me Burn, is currently on the international genre circuit. After graduating, she was commissioned by Stormview Pictures to direct Ghosted, a proof-of-concept now in development as a long-form project. Sofia is developing her debut feature, Chasing Shadows, produced by Rockwood Pictures as a United Kingdom–Italy co-production. The project has been supported by HerArts Film Lab. She is also developing the Italian crime miniseries Ali di Carta, winner of the Giffoni Hub pitch contest. Her work draws on folklore, landscape and psychological surrealism to create visually immersive stories that blur the boundary between dreams, memory and reality.

Chasing Shadows After his father’s mysterious disappearance, a teenage boy is uprooted to a remote Italian village, where strange lights haunting the landscape draw him into a world in which the past lingers and the missing are never truly gone.
