Jesse van der Kolk (Netherlands)

Jesse van der Kolk is a film director, writer, and producer based in Amsterdam, with a second base in New York. His work encompasses fiction, documentary, virtual reality and commercial projects. He is the co-founder of No End Cinema, an Amsterdam-based film collective that seeks to create and facilitate author-driven films. Jesse approaches cinema as an autonomous art form, creating an experiential, presence-based practice in which image and sound intuitively evoke meaning and emotion. His work explores a cinematic space where human beings and nature inhabit the same space.

Another Green World In 1850, Dutch farmers Jan and Neeltje settle with their young child and other families in the wild jungles of Brazil. They face harsh conditions in this new world, as hope turns into survival and endurance. Over time, the couple drifts apart as Jan withdraws into the forest seeking unity with nature, while Neeltje turns to the settler community, each following separate paths between wilderness and civilization.
