David Liles (Mexico)

David Liles studied Drama at the Higher Institute of Art in Cuba. He produced Sabina Berman’s Muerte súbita with Bridge Playhouse, New York. He wrote and directed his plays El país de nunca jamás and Mármol. In film and series, he has worked in La vida de los peces tropicales, by Javier Arévalo; Drifting II, by Gael García Bernal; Semana Santa, by Alejandra Márquez Abella; Camino a Marte, by Humberto Hinojosa; Desierto, by Jonás Cuarón; El baile de los 41, by David Pablos; The Chosen One, by Everardo Gout; La máquina, by Gabriel Ripstein; and Without Blood, by Angelina Jolie. He directed and co-produced the campaign Mujeres fantásticas, starring Yalitza Aparicio. His script Miel inspired Canción del agua, a virtual reality experience directed by Felipe Fernández del Paso. David wrote and directed the short films Fango and Byron, both of which premiered at the Court Métrage in Cannes. He co-directed the Cineminuto Los Cabos 10 for Los Cabos International Film Festival, and directed the Cineminuto Árbol Rojo 5.
