Alejandra C. Cannobbio (Chile)

Alejandra C. Cannobbio went into exile in East Berlin in 1973. In 1997 she graduated as a film director from the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin (DffB). She worked on documentaries for television in Germany and Chile. Her film productions deal with themes related to memory and human rights, as well as autobiographical memories. Thanks to her notable career as a director, she has received filmmaking grants both in Chile and Germany. Her films have screened at festivals such as the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival (BAFICI), the Havana Film Festival, the Panorama section of the Berlinale, Documenta Madrid, the Boston Latino International Film Festival, the Trieste International Film Festival, the Toulouse International Film Festival, and the Valdivia International Film Festival, among others. Since 2005 she has been teaching at the University of Chile, where she is an Associate Professor in the School of Communication and Image.
