The Taller de Revisión de Guion lab offers filmmakers from around the world the opportunity to work intensively on their feature-length narrative scripts in an environment structured to foster professional collaboration and rigorous script development. The lab consists of a two-week residential workshop and a two-day online follow-up module.

The lab is facilitated by professionals in the field with long-standing experience. In addition to the script guidance provided through workshop sessions and one-on-one meetings, participants have ample time for writing. The lab offers filmmakers who want to invest in their projects and careers the opportunity to workshop their scripts with international peers, join a community of like-minded artists, and access the Cine Qua Non film professional network.

The lab is held in Spanish. All applicants must have a good knowledge of Spanish.

The Taller de Revisión de Guion 2026 will be held in Tzintzuntzan, a small town in Mexico, approximately 50 km from the city of Morelia. The workshop, writing, and living spaces are tucked amidst the beauty of the Sierra Madre mountains, overlooking Lake Pátzcuaro, a quiet natural retreat.

The residential workshop will take place from Wednesday, November 11, through Wednesday, November 25, 2026. The follow-up module will be held online in February 2027.

• Professional writers or writer/directors developing a narrative feature film
• Only completed narrative feature scripts ready for the revision process
• Co-written scripts are eligible, but only one person per project will be accepted to the lab
• Proof of ownership/copyright of the script

The application deadline is Friday, June 12, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. (Mexico City time).

The application fee is 70 USD.

Cine Qua Non subsidizes a significant portion of the cost of participation in the lab through resources of the organization and its members. Thanks to this support, filmmakers accepted into the program pay a reduced participation fee of 3,500 USD. This fee is due upon acceptance. If a participant needs to cancel attendance more than 20 days before the start date of the lab, 50% of the fee will be refunded. Cancellations made less than 20 days before the start date are not eligible for a refund.

In addition to the professional script guidance provided through workshop sessions and on-on-one meetings, Cine Qua Non provides accommodation and meals for the duration of the two-week residential workshop.

Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses to and from the residency. Participants must submit proof of medical insurance covering the period of the residential workshop.

Participants must give official recognition to Cine Qua Non in the future production of their work, by including an acknowledgement and the Cine Qua Non logo in any published rendition of the script, in the project’s website or when applying for additional development labs and funding for the same project, as well as mentioning Cine Qua Non’s support in any interview or article about their project.

In addition, once completed, films that have been supported by Cine Qua Non must indicate that support both in the opening and closing credits, by displaying the Cine Qua Non logo and the caption “Developed with the support of Cine Qua Non”. Participants are also required to give recognition to the lab facilitator with an on-screen credit of script consultant.

All applications will be reviewed and evaluated by a jury panel composed of film professionals. Applicants short-listed by the Selection Committee for final-round consideration may be invited to a videoconference interview.
