Alonso Llosa is a Peruvian screenwriter and director. His short film Living Legend had an extensive festival run, screening at the Hamptons International Film Festival, Palm Springs ShortFest, and others, before being acquired by HBO. His tragicomic debut feature, La restauración, premiered in competition at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in 2020 and was an official selection at international film festivals such as Vancouver, Newport Beach, Guadalajara, and Shanghai, among many others. The film won the Audience Award for Best Fiction Feature at the San Diego Latino Film Festival, Best Director at the Las Alturas Film Festival in Argentina, and five awards at the Guayaquil Film Festival, including Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Film. Alonso graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and holds an M.F.A. in Film Directing from Columbia University in New York. He currently teaches film production at Emory University in Atlanta, where he lives with his family. Discoman is his second feature film.
Discoman — In a near future where the Amazon rainforest has been almost completely devastated, a woman struggling to connect with motherhood and family life travels to an abandoned mining camp in the middle of the jungle to recover the body of her father, the legendary DJ Discoman.
