Álvaro Vásquez Miranda (Colombia)

Álvaro Vásquez Miranda is a Colombian director, screenwriter and producer. He is the founder of Vaya Films, a company specializing in on-set production and a key player in the country’s film industry which has supported the creative and production processes of outstanding Colombian independent films in the last 15 years. Álvaro has developed his vision as an author through several independent short films. In 2017 he directed the short film Jamás, which was supported by the Colombian Film Development Fund and selected at the Havana New Latin American Film Festival, Bogoshorts and the Cinélatino Festival in Toulouse. In 2021 he was the winner, with his short film Leve, of the “Grandes Historias” contest launched by the Colombian Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies. Álvaro is currently developing his first feature film, Un coyote al final del camino, which was part of the Rotterdam Lab in 2023 and has participated in several development forums, such as BAM Projects at the Bogotá Audiovisual Market and the International Producers Meeting of the Cartagena Film Festival.
