Andrew Houchens is a producer, writer, director, and festival consultant with more than 15 years of experience in film and media. His work has focused on highlighting social justice issues such as immigration reform, LGBTQ+ representation, and the effects of colonialism. His films have premiered and garnered awards at film festivals including Tribeca, SXSW, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), BFI London, Hot Docs, EnergaCAMERIMAGE, NewFest, and BAMcinemaFest, and have been distributed by Criterion, MUBI, Netflix, PBS, Cinema Guild, TOPIC, and others. The films have garnered three nominations for the Ariel Awards from the Mexican Film Academy and one win in 2023 for Best Animated Feature. As a consultant, Andrew has collaborated with top festivals in the United States, Europe, and Latin America, and has worked for Berlinale’s European Film Market since 2016. Prior, he was Head of Industry for Tribeca’s TFI Network Market and producer of the Gotham Awards. Andrew is a 2019 Sundance Institute Creative Producing Fellow.
