Camila Urrutia is a Guatemalan filmmaker, actress and DJ. She studied filmmaking in Montreal and Paris. She has documented for several years women’s groups working on alternative justice and sanction processes with Mayan women who were victims of rape during the war. She has made several fiction short films in Guatemala about the experiences of queer women from urban areas. In 2017 she made her debut feature film,
Pólvora en el corazón, a powerful story with young protagonists in Guatemala City. The film premiered at the Huelva Ibero-American Festival in 2019, winning the Silver Colón for best female performance, and was also part of the official selection of the 2020 SXSW Festival.
