Cheryl Wong (Singapore)

Cheryl Wong is a Singaporean filmmaker based in Los Angeles who is drawn to narratives that explore the complexities of identity, family dynamics and intergenerational relationships. A graduate of New York University’s graduate film program, she wrote and directed Stigma, Style, which premiered at the Palm Springs International ShortFest and has played at festivals across the United States and Asia. Cheryl was awarded Best Short Director at the Jakarta Independent Film Festival in 2022 and was one of the winners in 2023 of The Gotham’s Annual Focus Features & JetBlue Short Film Showcase. She attended Tokyo Talents in 2022 and TFL Next TV Series workshop in 2023. Cheryl is currently in post-production on her short film Watermelons, which was supported by Singapore’s IMDA Singapore Film Commission grant. Nineteen, Monsoon is her first feature.
