Daniel Rehder is a Peruvian filmmaker committed to merging the best of commercial cinema with the depth of social cinema. His mission is to create films that not only entertain but also inspire and make an impact. Daniel premiered his debut film, Hotel Paraíso, in 2019 in Peru and Ecuador, tackling themes of bullying and self-esteem. Additionally, he developed an anti-bullying manual using images from the film. His upcoming film, No te mueras por mí, will be released in Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia in early 2025, shedding light on violence against women and the role the public plays in it. It will also be accompanied by a website that centralizes and simplifies the necessary information for reporting abuse in Peru. His third feature film, El Atrapanieblas (The Fog Catcher), is inspired by the visionary efforts of Abel Cruz to combat water scarcity and climate change in marginalized communities.
El Atrapanieblas (The Fog Catcher) — An interview about how he came to create the fog catcher forces Abel Cruz to confront his past — from the tragedy that shattered his idyllic childhood in the Cusco countryside to his migration to Lima and his struggle against water scarcity, ultimately leading him to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. In the harsh deserts of Peru, Abel turns his personal tragedy into a lifeline for his people by inventing a revolutionary device that captures water from the sky.
