Fernando López Escrivá (Argentina/Canada)

Fernando López Escrivá is an Argentine/Canadian filmmaker and editor specialized in documentary and currently venturing into fiction. His first documentary film, Hotel Gondolín, won Best Human Rights Documentary at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival. Fernando’s most recent documentary work, La pesca, won the Sesterce d’Or Award for Best Short Film at Visions du Réel. As an editor, Fernando has worked on several documentary features and docu-realities and was nominated for Best Editing in Canada’s Prix Gémeaux for the Sundance-selected documentary film The Women of Brukman. In fiction, Fernando has directed three short films, among them Soleil de nuit, awarded at Palm Springs with Best International Short Film, and is now developing two feature films co-written with María Camila Arias that have received writing grants from Canada and Quebec institutions such as Telefilm, SODEC and CALQ.
