Hiram Islas Vázquez is a Mexican filmmaker originally from Nopaltepec, in the State of Mexico. He graduated with honors with a degree in Philosophy from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a degree in Filmmaking from the Escuela Superior de Cine (ESCINE) in Mexico City. He produced La canícula de agosto, ESCINE’s second feature debut, and his short film Nopaltepec screened at the most important film festivals in Mexico. He is currently developing his screenplays Estábamos juntos, olvidé el resto and O lo uno o lo otro.

Estábamos juntos, olvidé el resto — After the death of their mother, two brothers travel the West Coast of the United States looking for their father. All they know is that he works on an apple ranch next to a Native American cemetery.
