Isha Ashta (India)

With a background in Mathematics, Isha Ashta pursued a fascination for numbers before studying TV & Video Production at Xavier Institute of Communications in Mumbai and finding her true calling as a storyteller. She spent a decade honing her craft as an assistant to various commercial and narrative film directors before launching her directing career in 2018. Her work as a documentary and ad-filmmaker is driven by a deep-seated passion for telling human stories. Her film campaign for Horlicks and her film for Hershey’s Halloween have both won national advertising awards. Her story on Sadam Hanjabam, an LGBTQI activist and champion of mental wellness, is featured on The Me You Can’t See, a docu-series streaming on Apple TV+. The female experience, identity, and coming of age are themes Isha is most interested in exploring through her work as a director. Bones is her first feature-length screenplay.
