Javier Loarte is a film director, writer and editor born in Madrid and based in Brooklyn. After participating in the Berlinale Talent Campus, he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study filmmaking at Columbia University in New York City, where he graduated with an M.F.A. in Film. His films have screened at the Telluride, Montreal, Zinebi, Cinema Jove and Uppsala film festivals, among many others, and at museums of contemporary art, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris and Tate Modern in London, as well as on television.

A la intemperie (Open Sky) [co-written with Ferrán Mendoza] — Due to flawed Spanish laws, two families are forced to fight for an apartment — a Spanish family, the rightful owners, and a Moroccan family who occupied the house thinking it was empty. One of them has to let go.
