Jorge Thielen Armand is a Venezuelan director based in Toronto. His debut feature film,
La Soledad, premiered at the 2016 Venice International Film Festival and has received eight international awards, including Best Screenplay at the Durban International Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Miami Film Festival. His documentary
Flor de la mar won the Jury Prize for Best Documentary Short Film at the Cine Las Américas International Film Festival in Austin in 2015 and was screened at more than 20 festivals, including the Margaret Mead Film Festival, the Sarasota Film Festival and the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM). Jorge has a B.A. in Communication Studies from Concordia University in Montreal and was part of the Biennale College Cinema, TIFF Talent Lab, Hot Docs Accelerator and RIDM Talent Lab. In 2015 he founded, together with Rodrigo Michelangeli, La Faena Films, a production company with a focus in auteur cinema.
