Rodrigo de Vasconcellos (Brazil)

Rodrigo de Vasconcellos is an emerging Brazilian queer writer, born in Rio de Janeiro and raised in Paraíba. He graduated in Cinema Studies at PUC-Rio University, and also studied Live Theatre at Kingston University in London. Rodrigo’s first original story, Blush, a queer musical melodrama co-written with Alice Marcone, is now under development by RT Features company, produced by Rodrigo Teixeira and to be directed by Marco Dutra. Rodrigo is now dedicated to his second original story, Red Sand, a “bug-queer-movie” under development by Beija Flor Filmes and to be directed by Gil Baroni. As a television writer, his credits include Soap Opera for Prime Video, Aruna’s Magic for Disney+ (Best Screenplay Award for a Kids Show at the 2024 ABRA Awards), Bola Pra Frente for TV Brasil (as head writer), and Lab De Chef for Canal Futura.

Red Sand Summer of 1999. João Pessoa, Northeastern Brazil.
