Sofía Camargo is a Colombian filmmaker based in San Francisco. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology and Art History from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia and an M.F.A. in Film and Television from New York University (NYU). Her short films Al lado del río (2019) and Nostos (2024) screened at the Cartagena International Film Festival, with Al lado del río winning the NALIP Jury Award and earning a Vimeo Staff Pick. Her latest film, We’re Not Done Yet (2024), co-directed with Joseph Longo and starring Barbara Sukowa, screened at the Sundance Film Festival in 2025. As a cinematographer, her work has been shown at film festivals such as Berlinale, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Aspen Shortsfest, and Palm Springs. In 2023, Sofía won the Jury Prize for Best Cinematography at the Vienna Shorts film festival. She has also worked in creative development and art production with organizations like Ernest Lyford, NYU’s Production Lab, and Quinta Cultural.
Madeja — After leaving the city for a secluded Colombian country house, a mother escaping her marriage and her teenage daughter become entangled in their young housekeeper’s secret pregnancy. As their uneasy alliance forms, class divides and societal expectations threaten to tear them apart.
