Tom Hamburger is a Brazilian screenwriter and director with a degree in Literature and a deep passion for storytelling across film and television. Alongside Canal Futura, he directed Show da História, winner of the TAL Award for Best Studio Show, and created the children’s series A Caverna de Petra, which he produced, wrote, and directed. Tom also contributed as a writer for both seasons of Netflix’s Irmandade (Brotherhood) and later co-directed episodes of Marcelo, Marmelo, Martelo (Nickelodeon), a series adapted from the books of Brazilian writer Ruth Rocha and nominated for a Rose d’Or Latinos award. He co-directed the feature documentary Tell Me, which was screened at Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), as well as the short film Daymara y el baile zombie, recently screened at the 2025 Mostra de Cinema de Tiradentes. Tom is currently writing Paulo e Elza, a feature film about the life of Brazilian educator Paulo Freire, and adapting Valter Hugo Mãe’s novel A Máquina de Fazer Espanhóis into a feature film.
