Waleed Alqahtani (Saudi Arabia)

Waleed Alqahtani is a Saudi Arabian screenwriter, director, and producer. His films have screened at major festivals such as Aspen, Slamdance, Palm Springs, Red Sea, Seattle, New Orleans, and more. His feature film Blue Summer (formerly Amal) was selected for Cine Qua Non Lab’s Script Revision Lab, the Cinephilia Film & TV Development Workroom, and was a finalist for the SFFILM Rainin Grant. Waleed has worked for Film at Lincoln Center, Cinetic Media, Image Nation Abu Dhabi, and served as a research/editing assistant to writer/director Debra Granik. He holds an M.F.A. in Film from Columbia University in New York City.

Waleed was a participant in Cine Qua Non Lab’s 2020 Script Revision Lab with Amal (now Blue Summer).

Blue Summer After several years in the United States, spitfire Amal returns home to Saudi Arabia only to find her once wealthy family now coming apart at the seams. As her younger sister’s wedding looms, Amal decides to track down their estranged father for support in a desperate attempt to keep the pieces together.
