Aleluya Rivera (Mexico)

Aleluya Rivera is a Mexican screenwriter, writer and playwright with a B.A. in Dramatic Literature and Theater from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She has completed various studies in film narrative, writing and screenwriting. Her first short film script, La bestia, was produced by the International Cancer League in Bern, Switzerland, and premiered at the Zurich Film Festival in 2017. Her second short film script, Al final de la noche, screened at the 2019 Huesca Film Festival and the 2019 Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana and received the award for best Mexican short film at the 2019 FotoFilm Tijuana Film Festival and the award for best border short film at the 2020 San Diego Latino Film Festival. Aleluya won a screenwriting grant from the Mexican Film Institute (IMCINE) in 2020 for El conserje, her first feature screenplay.

El conserje Ricardo, an old school janitor, sees his life threatened –and the life of Ana, his sick wife– when he is unable to meet the demands of his job and is faced with unfairness at work. Ricardo will even face death in order to do everything in his power to show Ana that he loves her.
