Ayesha Abouelazm (USA)

Ayesha Abouelazm is an Egyptian American, award-winning filmmaker and a 2017 Columbia College graduate in Cinema Directing. She is the Film and Digital Media Program Director at Loyola University Chicago, where she teaches film production and directing courses. She has written and directed many short films and has co-directed her first feature, One Woman Hamlet (2021). Her short films include Love Is a Gray Area (2016), Utterance (2016), The Girl in the Blue Bra (2017), Not on My Shoulders (2017), Otherwise a Woman (2019) and The Forgotten Victim (2024), which is currently in the film festival circuit. Ayesha gravitates towards stories that are controversial, that focus on underdogs, and that unveil issues which most people are afraid to talk about. The Girl in the Blue Bra is one of her more personal works and has been shown in over 25 film festivals so far, winning Joint Best North American Short at the Asia Southeast Film Festival and Best Long-Short Film at the Kinodrome Film Festival. Ayesha is currently working on a feature-length version of her award-winning short film, along with another new feature film.
