Claudia Pedraza (Colombia)

Claudia Pedraza is a Colombian director and screenwriter, with a degree in Social Communication from the Universidad del Valle, Colombia, and a Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Screewriting from the University of La Rioja, Spain. She won the “Alfonso Bonilla Aragón” journalism award for her documentary Entre sol y asfalto. Claudia has directed multiple television series, including the second season of La Reina del Sur, winner of the 2020 Emmy Award for best non-English speaking series; Así es la vuelta, winner of the TAL (Televisión América Latina) award in 2021 for best transmedia series; Armas de mujer, for HBO; and the third season of La Reina del Sur, number 1 on Netflix in 2023. She is currently developing her debut feature, El enemigo interno, a project selected for the Cali Film Festival Lab in 2020 and Nuevas Miradas, Cuba, in 2022, where she received a development award with Mexican production company BDC Producciones, and winner of the Filmarket Hub award in 2019. At the beginning of her career, Claudia served as first assistant director on more than 30 feature films, including El abrazo de la serpiente (Embrace of the Serpent) and Pájaros de verano (Birds of Passage). Claudia also works as a teacher and workshop facilitator at various film schools, such as the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba (EICTV) and the National Film School in Colombia.
