Cris Gris (Mexico)

Cris Gris is a Mexican filmmaker whose work has screened at prestigious film festivals such as the Berlinale, the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, and the Morelia International Film Festival, where her short film Alma y Paz won the Special Jury Prize. Her short film San Miguel received the Spike Lee Film Production Fund and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Fellows Fund, as well as a grant from the National Board of Review in 2019. In television, Cris directed three episodes of the first season of VGLY, a comedy series about trap music that premiered on HBO Max in 2023, becoming its most successful production in Mexico. More recently, she directed three episodes of Cometierra, an adaptation of the acclaimed Argentine novel, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2025. She also directed three episodes of the second season of VGLY, released in 2025.

Lucius Luz Lucio, a teenager from Guadalupe, Nuevo León, is sent to California to meet with his estranged father. At the vineyard where he begins working, he meets Ángel, the son of the town pastor. What starts as a friendship develops into a deep bond, but as their relationship grows, secrets come to light that spark tensions in the town.
