David David (Colombia)

David David is a Colombian writer, director, producer and editor. A creator of fiction works with local flair and focused on social themes, his works, framed in the colorful context of the Colombian Caribbean, have overtones of magic realism. His debut feature, La frontera, premiered at the Cairo Film Festival in 2019 and was selected and awarded at festivals in India, Mexico, Colombia, France, the United States, Spain, Morocco, Chile, Argentina and Canada, among others. His first miniseries, Vida de colores, had its European premiere at Series Mania, where it received the Special Jury Prize, becoming the first Colombian series awarded at the festival, which is considered the most important television event in Europe. David has participated with his projects in renowned industry events such as the San Sebastián Coproduction Forum, the Berlinale Coproduction Market and the Producers Meeting at the Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI). He has also won multiple creation incentives such as the National Young Artists Talent Award, several grants from the Ibermedia Program for training workshops and a meritorious thesis award from the Film and Audiovisual School of Catalonia (ESCAC) while completing a Master’s Degree in Film Directing.
