Eva Libertad (Spain)

Eva Libertad is a screenwriter, director and sociologist from Murcia, Spain, with a degree from the Complutense University of Madrid. Her short films include Sorda (2021), nominated for the 2023 Goya Awards and which has 110 selections and 60 awards at international and national film festivals. She is currently developing her first feature film, Sorda, based on the short film of the same title. Her previous short films include Leo y Alex en pleno siglo 21, with 75 selections at film festivals, including Calgary International Film Festival in Canada and BFI Flare London. As a playwright, she has written and directed plays for institutions such as the Complutense University of Madrid, the Autonomous University of Querétaro, Mexico, and the National Institute and the Secretariat of Social Development of Mexico, focused on gender violence, human trafficking and sexual rights of migrants. In 2015 she joined Nexus CreaFilms as a director and screenwriter, a company she co-leads with producer Nuria Muñoz.

SordaÁngela, a deaf woman, is having a child with Héctor, her hearing partner. The arrival of the baby triggers a crisis in the couple, which leads Ángela to face raising her daughter in a world that is not made for her.
