Residencia Cine Qua Non 2026

Frank Benítez is a screenwriter and film director with a master’s degree in creative writing. His work includes, among others, the short films Zombi, El traje de Karina, Fugitivos, Minuto 200, and Xpectativa, which have been screened at more than 300 international film festivals; the miniseries Las iguanas, available on HBOMax; and the feature-length documentary El Pantera, winner of a production grant from the Colombian Film Development Fund and released in 2025. Frank has also taught filmmaking, screenwriting, and editing at various institutions, including the National University of Colombia, the Manuela Beltrán University, the Bogotá Cinematheque (Programa Cinemateca Rodante), and the Externado University of Colombia.
Frank was a participant in Cine Qua Non Lab’s 2023 Taller de Líneas Argumentales lab with La furia (now Dieciocho).
Dieciocho — In the midst of a turbulent city and inside a home with an unemployed father and a sick grandmother, an introverted young man who loves zombie movies and has just turned eighteen faces the pressure of having to prove his masculinity as he goes through the most difficult time of his life.
