Frank Benítez (Colombia)

Frank Benítez is a Colombian director, producer and screenwriter. He is a partner and founder of the production company Planeador Films and has been a recipient on several occasions of grants awarded by the Colombian Film Development Fund (FDC) for fiction short film production, screenwriting and documentary feature film production. Frank has taught audiovisual production at different institutions, such as the National University of Colombia, the Manuela Beltrán University and the Externado University of Colombia. His works include, among others, Las Iguanas, a miniseries recently released on HBO Max, and the short films Minuto 200, selected in more than 100 international festivals, El traje de Karina, winner of the Best Script and Best Direction awards at the 2021 Long Beach Queer Film Festival, and Fugitivos, winner of the Best Professional Short Film award at the 2017 SmartFilms Festival. Frank is currently completing post-production on the feature documentary El Pantera, an FDC-winning project, and on Extinción, a fiction miniseries for the production company Negrita Films.
