Ignacio Acconcia (Spain)

Ignacio Acconcia is a director and screenwriter who graduated from the Film and Audiovisual School of Catalonia (ESCAC) and holds a Master’s degree in Creative Documentary from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. His debut feature-length documentary, El niño de fuego (2021), won a Special Jury Mention at the Valladolid International Film Festival (SEMINCI), was nominated for the Gaudí Awards, and is currently available on Netflix and Disney+. His latest work, the documentary short film Imade (2024), premiered at the D’A—Barcelona Film Festival and has garnered over 35 national and international selections and eight awards. Ignacio was also involved as a screenwriter in Mercenario (2025), an original documentary by Movistar+ and MediaPro, while teaching at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and ESCAC, where he is involved in several social action workshops. He is currently working on the pre-production of his second feature film and first fiction film, Cara Sucia, a project that was selected in programs such as Residencias de la Academia del Cine and Cine Qua Non Lab’s Taller de Líneas Argumentales, to be filmed in 2027.
