Javier Arias-Stella (Peru)

Javier Arias-Stella is an emerging filmmaker passionate about stories with great potential for impact. He is a physician specialized in pathology, originally from Peru and based in Los Angeles. The idea of leaving medicine after reaching burnout in the healthcare industry prompted him to embark on an exploratory journey to rediscover his creative potential. His goal is to develop thought-provoking, character-driven stories that explore personal identity and self-esteem as a means to inspire people. His first short film, América, has won awards at several festivals, including Oscar®-qualifying festivals, and continues to screen at festivals around the world.

América América, a ten-year-old girl from a remote community in the Peruvian Andes, walks two hours every day to the nearest school. Her dream is to have a bicycle so she can get to school faster.
