Marta Romero (Spain)

Marta Romero holds a B.A. in Audiovisual Communication from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Her first feature film, Toda una vida, premiered at the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival and the D’A Film Festival. After its theatrical run, it recently won the Miradas Award at Docs Valencia and the award for Best Film at the Som Cinema Catalan Audiovisual Festival. Her first short film, Facunda, premiered in the Luminous section of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), was nominated for the Gaudí Awards and was part of the official section of the Alcalá de Henares Film Festival (ALCINE), the Cádiz Documentary Film Festival (Alcances) and the Uppsala Short Film Festival, among others. Marta also works as a visual artist in the world of dance. She has directed several dance films recognized at international festivals, including 9241 (2017), Ezlekua (2019), co-directed with Luz Ruciello, and Noir (2020) as part of Clash! Creative Europe. In Pista de baile, Marta delves into autofiction, rescuing documentary experiences from her own life and surroundings.
