Martina Matzkin is an Argentinian director and screenwriter. Her latest short film, El nombre del hijo (The Name of the Son) (2020), premiered and won awards in the Generation section of the Berlinale and was screened at more than 80 festivals and on streaming platforms such as HBO and Filmin. Martina was one of the directors of Televisión contra las violencias (2023), a series that won an award from the Argentine Ministry of Culture and was broadcast on Argentine public television. She has just released her first feature-length documentary, Cuidadoras (2025), an Argentine-Chilean co-production supported by the Ibermedia Program that was selected during its development for the San Sebastián Documentary Co-Production Forum and the Guadalajara Film Festival Co-Production Market. Martina is currently developing Lo ideal, her debut narrative feature film, which was supported by the City of Buenos Aires Patronage Program, BrLab, Platino NextGen and Proyecta Ventana Sur, and won a development grant from the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts of Argentina (INCAA).
Lo ideal — With the unsettling feeling of living as a family without actually being one, a single man and three children begin a living together trial period to decide whether or not they want to go ahead with an adoption.
