Storylines Lab 2026

Mauricio Osaki (尾崎) is a Brazilian-Japanese (sansei, 三世) filmmaker with an M.F.A. in Filmmaking from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. His short film My Father’s Truck premiered at the Berlinale in 2013, screened at over 100 international festivals, and was shortlisted for the Academy Awards—Oscars®. His scripts have been selected for Berlinale Talents, Biennale College–Venice, Cine Qua Non Lab, Le Groupe Ouest, Talents Tokyo, and Autumn Meetings. Mauricio also won the Creator’s Lab prize by Kodansha to direct the short film A Dream for My Daughter. Based in Ho Chi Minh City, he is currently in post-production on his first feature, adapted from My Father’s Truck. In addition to narrative work, he directs commercials and has created web series for United States-based platforms including DramaWave, MiniShorts, ShortMax and Vigloo.
