2026 Taller de Líneas Argumentales

Mónica María Mondragón is a Colombian screenwriter and director. She holds a degree in Social Communication and a diploma in Creative Documentary from the Universidad del Valle, as well as a Master’s degree in Audiovisual Writing from the Universidad del Magdalena. Her fiction and documentary work includes the short films E’ckwe quiere decir colibrí, Nostalgia del futuro, Las notas de Camila, and Kwe’sx Thegnxisa: nuestra mirada, recognized at more than 30 national and international festivals (National Short Film Award from the Colombian Ministry of Culture, Docs Barcelona, Busan Film Festival, Lakino Berlin, Bogotá International Documentary Film Festival (MIDBO), among others). Mónica María has worked as a director and screenwriter for production companies and television channels such as Telepacífico, Canal Capital, Señal Colombia, Fosfenos Media, and 64-A Films, notably in the children’s series Guillermina y Candelario, winner of the India Catalina Award, and the animated documentary series Yo te adopto, co-produced with Chile and Argentina. She was a social dialogue analyst for Colombia’s Truth Commission. She is a university professor, script consultant, and jury member for various programs and workshops, as well as the creator of the Mar Adentro screenwriting workshop for women and the representative of directors and screenwriters on the Cali District Film Council. She is currently in post-production on her first feature film and is developing fiction, documentary, and video game projects with a social and cultural focus.
