Nico Opper (USA)

Nico Opper (they/them) has been featured in Filmmaker Magazine’s annual “25 New Faces of Independent Film”, IndieWire Magazine’s “25 LGBT Filmmakers on the Rise”, and DOC NYC’s “40 Under 40”. Their work has premiered at Sundance (Try Harder!), Tribeca (Off and Running), Hot Docs (When I Write It) and Guadalajara International Film Festival (Visitor’s Day). Their films have been nominated for a national Emmy Award, a Gotham Award and an IDA Documentary Award, and streamed or broadcast on POV, Independent Lens and Hulu. Nico currently teaches at Santa Clara University as an Assistant Professor and mentors emerging filmmakers through the Sundance Ignite program and the Sundance Producers Institute.
