Nicole Elmer (USA)

Nicole Elmer began her artistic career as an electronic musician, writing under the names of “neutral” and “squab teen.” Her music has been released on electronic labels such as Planet-Mu and Ant Zen/Hymen in the United States, Europe and Japan. Her music interests led her to expand her visions into producing, directing, and writing films. Nicole’s screenplays as writer or co-writer have been a selection for Frontières International Co-Production Market (2020), second rounders in Sundance Screenwriters’ Lab (2016, 2017, 2019), a semifinalist for Slamdance (2019) and a selection for the NALIP Latino Media Market (2020). Her first feature was the art house horror film In the Shadow, picked up by Devolver Films in 2013. Nicole is also a fiction writer, with numerous published short stories and the Chicano/Latino Literary Prize-winning dramatic play La fruta nunca se cae. She is a 2004 recipient of the Hispanic Scholar Fund and was commissioned to write a novel set in Cuba during the 1980s. Nicole studied acting at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and film production at The University of Texas at Austin.
