Rosa María Rodríguez Pupo

Rosa María Rodríguez Pupo is a Cuban actress, director, screenwriter and producer. She graduated in Executive Production from the International School of Film and Television of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV) and in Film Directing from the University of the Arts (ISA) in Cuba. She graduated as an actress from the Vicentina de la Torre Academy of Arts. Rosa María is executive producer at GatoRosafilms, a creative collective based in Havana whose most recent films include El bosque intermitente, by Lázaro Lemus, and La tierra de la ballena and El regresado, by Armando Capó. Rosa María has experience as a teacher in stage direction, actor direction and casting direction at schools such as Canto Lírico, ISA and Academy of Arts. As a theater director, her play Culpa received the Milanés Grant in 2015. She currently has a growing career as a producer and has participated in events such as MAFIZ (Málaga Festival Industry Zone) in Málaga, Visions du Réel in Switzerland and Marché du Film in Cannes. Her short films —including La costurera, I love Papuchi and Nara— have won various national and international awards. Rosa María is currently developing her first feature film as a director, La levedad de ella, a project that has received a wide range of support: Nuevas Miradas EICTV; BoliviaLab; SAPCINE (FicCali Film Producers and Projects Market) in Colombia; MAUCC (Central American and Caribbean Audiovisual Market) in Costa Rica; Cine Qua Non Lab’s Script Revision Lab; and the Development Lab for Film Projects from Central America and the Caribbean, organized by the IBERMEDIA Program.

Rosa María Rodríguez Pupo will serve as Academic Assistant at the 2023 Taller de Revisión de Guion lab.
