Rosa María Rodríguez Pupo (Cuba)

Rosa María Rodríguez Pupo studied Dramatic Art in 2007. She graduated in 2015 from the University of the Arts (Higher Institute of Art) of Cuba with a concentration in Film Direction. She is a Production Graduate from the International School of Film and Television of San Antonio de los Baños. She has directed the documentary feature film Órgano and the fiction short films Nara, I love Papuchi and La costurera. In 2021 she directed La trenza, a short film that is part of the choral film Cuentos de un día más, under the general direction of Fernando Pérez. With GatoRosafilms, her production company, she has produced the feature documentaries La tierra de la ballena, by Armando Capó, and El bosque intermitente, by Lázaro Lemus, both currently in post-production. Rosa María is currently writing and developing her directorial debut, La levedad de ella, a project with which she was selected for BoliviaLab and won a direct pass to the Market for Film Producers and Projects (SAPCINE) of the Cali International Film Festival.

Rosa María is the recipient of the 2022 Cine Qua Non Lab-Nuevas Miradas prize, awarded by Cine Qua Non Lab in collaboration with the International School of Film and Television of San Antonio de los Baños, for her project La levedad de ella.
