Sandra Reina (Spain)

Sandra Reina is a director and assistant director born in Barcelona. She began her career developing projects for production companies such as Inicia Films, La Lupa and About a Bicycle, and was first assistant director in feature films such as Unicornios, by Àlex Lora, and La imagen permanente, by Laura Ferrés, in the series television Oh My Goig and the documentary series Dahaleez for Al Jazeera, as well as in multiple short films, such as El código interior, by Pau Subirós, or La bestia, by David Casademunt. In 2017, Sandra was selected for the Rotterdam Lab and in 2019 she made her directorial debut with her fiction short film Trivial, starring Macarena Gómez, which was selected in more than 40 festivals and won over 11 awards. In 2019 she was a participant in the VIII Script Lab of the Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE), under the mentorship of Montxo Armendáriz. Her short film El bus won the award for best project in the Acció Curts call, by Dones Visuals, and will have its world premiere at the SXSW Festival in 2023.

Yolanda no longer wants to be who she was, but prejudices —both her own and others’—, mistrust, lies and a world that she is not ready to forgive are not going to make it easy for her.
