Sebastián Castillo Gaete (Chile)

Sebastián Castillo Gaete is a Chilean director and producer who graduated from the ARCOS Film and Television School in Santiago. His work spans documentary and fiction, with a special interest in intimate stories and characters who inhabit the margins of society, particularly those linked to LGTBIQ+ experiences and identities, approached from a sensitive, intimate, and sometimes uncomfortable perspective. He directed Insiders, a documentary awarded at the Huesca International Film Festival and later censored in Chile, an event that marked the beginning of an authorial line focused on the representation of dissident experiences and emotional bonds in hostile contexts. In recent years, he has combined his work in advertising with the development of independent audiovisual projects and has furthered his training through diploma courses and workshops. Sebastián is currently developing his debut feature film, Bonite, a teenage drama set in northern Chile that explores friendship, identity, and growing up in a region marked by scarcity and social pressure.

Bonite Feli, a determined gay teenager, and Sofi, his best friend who is beginning her transition to Tomás, spend the summer in northern Chile, where the drought seems to affect even their emotions, testing their identity and the strength of their friendship.
