Stephanie Cheng is a filmmaker and photographer based in New York and Beijing. Having grown up in China before spending her most formative years in the United States, her hybrid upbringing has informed her creative outlook. Stephanie approaches stories and sees them through a varied mix of motivations, perspectives, and origins of inspiration. Through her work, she examines race and gender through a cross-cultural lens and explores the evolving representations of female sexuality and power across mediums, with a particular focus on the disillusionment one encounters through the slow and non-linear transitions of life. Stephanie received a B.F.A. in Film and Television from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and completed a Master’s in Visual, Material and Museum Anthropology at the University of Oxford.

The Third Party — After discovering her husband’s infidelity, a Beijing housewife enlists the services of a mistress-dispelling agency where she is assigned a precocious male dispeller with whom she forms an unlikely bond with.
