Thais Drassinower (Peru)

Thais Drassinower is a Peruvian filmmaker based in Los Angeles. She holds an M.F.A. in Film Directing from Columbia University in New York and is part of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Newcomer Program in directing. Her short films have been part of the official selection at several international film festivals, including Tribeca, Aspen Shorts and Palm Springs. Her short film Baby was a semi-finalist at the Student Academy Awards—Oscars® in 2018 and won several awards, including Best Director by The Adrienne Shelly Foundation at Columbia University’s Short Film Showcase. Her short film The Catch was awarded by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture and nominated for Best Student Short Film at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Thais is currently developing La niña de la nieve resplandeciente, a feature film project recently awarded with development funds from the Peruvian Ministry of Culture.

La niña de la nieve resplandeciente When her father refuses to take part in the village’s annual religious pilgrimage in the Peruvian Andes, a 10-year-old indigenous girl embarks on a dangerous journey to retrieve sacred ice from a remote glacier, the last hope she has left to save her dying mother.
